Traits

Traits are used as quality containers for product features. . For example, if your product comes in different colors, ‘Color’ would be a Trait and the different color names would be Qualities. Traits can be assigned to categories of products and alter assigned to products within that category. The qualities contained within each trait can then be used to affect the final price of an item. For example, using the previous example of shirts and color differences, let’s say that each color is a different price. While setting up your products, which is discussed later in this manual, you may add a different price to the base cost of the shirt for each color, thus allowing you pricing flexibility within your product line.

Creating New Traits

To create a new Trait select ‘Trait’ from the Create new menu on the Products tab of the Storefront Control Panel while logged in as ‘Admin’ or ‘host.’

That’ll bring up the Create New Trait panel, where you can add new traits one after the other.

Enter the name of the trait in the text box provided and click the ‘Save Trait’ button on the lower left, as shown in the image. The page will post back and the text box will be cleared allowing you to enter others until you click ‘Cancel and Return.’

Editing Traits

To edit an already existing trait, click the ‘Traits’ button in the ‘Edit Existing’ menu on the Catalog panel of the Storefront Control Panel while logged in as ‘Admin’ or ‘host.’

Clicking this button will show a screen similar to the following picture.

Clicking on the Name of one of the traits in the list will bring up the following trait editing screen.

From here you can rename the Trait, add or delete Qualities, or delete the trait all together.

To create a new quality from this interface you must enter the name of the quality, in the Create Quality textbox and click the blue ‘box’ on the right of the textbox to insert it into the database. You can also create qualities as described in the section below.

To delete a quality from the list, select the quality and click the ‘X’ on the left side of the list box, as shown above. This will remove the quality from the database, effectively removing from your StoreFront.

Qualities

The Quality Entry screen will be displayed after a short pause for post back to server.

The drop down list will contain a list of your currently active Traits, and you can associate the Quality in question with a Trait in order to add the Quality to the database.

Editing Qualities

To edit you existing Qualities, Click the ‘Qualities’ selection under the Catalog tab of the Control Panel, while logged in as ‘Admin’ or ‘host.’ The screen will show a table containing your currently active Qualities with their associated Traits, as shown below.

Clicking one of the Qualities’ names will take you to the Quality Configuration page where you can make changes to the name of the Quality or change the associated Trait. Click ‘Update’ in the lower left corner to save your changes.
