KHZ_ContentManager.png HTML Content Manager

The Content Manager module is where all your content composition, editing and publishing is handled. There are several work panes containing the various elements you will use to create, upload and publish your articles and their assets (images, videos, audio files and documents).

We have separated the content editing functionality into three distinct modules:

  1. The Content Manager: Where content composition, editing and publishing is handled. It contains a Rich Html editor similar to a desktop word processing application.  You can easily change the fonts, edit the tables and css styles for your articles using the familiar and intuitive interface.

    Tags
: The central classification / taxonomy system used by the various modules for the Content Server is to define the Tags associated with each page. Each author can type in new tags or choose from the list of tags that were previously defined.  These Tags are compiled as a dynamic list used to organize, filter and group related content, as well as the Search Engine Keywords when your page is viewed by the search engines. Be specific when defining these for your articles in order to acheive better visibility across the various modules as well as internet search engines.

    Content Publishing:
Depending on your security role and the configuration of the module, you can display a pane at the bottom of the module displaying the websites and pages where the content is published, as well as the ability to publish to those websites and  pages. If the Go-Live date is blank, the content will be immediately published to the selected location. If the Pane field is blank, the content will be placed in the Content Pane of the skin for the selected location.

Content Approval: In module settings, there is a selection for the administrator to define if your account can Self-Approve articles, or if they need to be approved by another.  If you are in the role defined by the module setting "Content Approval Role" you will not need to do anything to view your articles within the content pages as changes are saved.  If approval is necessary, the appropriate user will see the article in the Content Approval module, and has the opportunity to review the changes you have made and approve them as desired.

Content Versioning: Every time you create an article or make changes to that content, a new version of the content is saved, to provide you with easy version history for rolling back changes or comparison. When choosing the articles with more than one version from the Content Manager List, you will have the option to choose any version of that article for editing.  If you are editing version 1 of an article that has 3 versions saved, your changes to any prior version will be saved as version 4 of that article.

Saving Content: When creating a new article, the publishing grid will not be visible until you mark the article as Published by selecting the "Publish" button in the grey bar at the bottom of the Content Manager module. To keep the article as a Work In Progress, and not a published article, save it by selecting the "Keep Private" button.

After an article is saved initially, when you open it up for editing a couple new buttons are visible:

Keep Private: This saves the article to your repository and will not show the Publishing grid.

Publish: This saves the article to your repository and displays the Publishing grid, allowing authors to choose where to publish the content. This is controlled by the module setting "Content Publisher Role".  If you are in the role selected, you will see the Publishing grid and be able to publish your content to the websites provided by the administrator.

Archive: This changes the article to an archived status, removing it from your Content Manager List, and also removing it from any Content Lists or various modules such as Most Popular or Recent Headlines. If you have published the article in the past, your content will still display as before, but the article is not able to be revised or updated using the Content Manager.

Copy As New: You can easily make copies of your content to use them as a new article by selecting the "Copy as New" button.  This saves your changes as version 1 of a new article.

    Content Manager Configuration (Module Settings):

  2. The Drag Drop module:
Displays a thumbnail image list of your assets. These are multimedia files you have uploaded that can be used in your content. This includes graphics, videos, audio files and documents that can be drag and dropped right into your content page to have the multimedia file display within your article as:
    1. a flash based video player with play/pause, volume and fullscreen options
    2. a streamlined flash based mp3 player with track name, play/pause and volume buttons
    3. a link to open or download an imbedded document. An exception to this rule is that Html documents will be displayed as part of the content, inserted into the article where you placed the drag drop link, not as a link to view the html page.
    4. a fullsize, scaled down, or thumbnail image with mouseover expansion
    Content DragDrop Configuration (Module Settings):

  3. The Content Manager List:

Displays a list of your content articles. You can filter the list by tags to show only content matching the specified tag word. If you are a content publisher you can also view published articles organized by the website and webpage the articles are published to.

  4. The Content File Uploader:

Supported upload file formats for digital assets are:

    • Video: MP4, MPEG, MOV, AVI, WMV, FLV, VOB
    • Image: JPG, JPEG, GIF, BMP, TIF, TIFF, PNG
    • Audio: MP3, WAV, WMA
    • Document: HTML, PDF, DOC, DOCX, XLS, PPT, TXT, RTF
